Stress, Fat and Faith

January 16, 2015 By Dale Fletcher 4 Comments

Stress health and how God can helpStress is a fact of life.

Chronic high stress can cause surges in your cortisol levels.

Hi cortisol levels will contribute to weight gain and to your difficulty in losing weight.

Effective stress management can help reduce your cortisol levels.

Lower cortisol levels will help you lose weight… and improve your health.

To learn more about the dynamics of stress and fat, read this insightful blog post – How to Prevent Weight Gain Due to Stress and Anxiety.

The author addresses 7 steps to beat stress. But she does not, however, address the spiritual dimension of stress management.

So, please see below for some helpful resources on the spiritual dimension to better manage your stress… and perhaps help you with your weight management challenges.

Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Have great day!

Its over a year now that I have been binged eating and gain 12kg. I took the help of nutritionist and therapist but nothing seemed to work. I exercise and had been on a calorie deficit but would always give up in few weeks but overall I lost 4 kg, not sure in how many months but I really need the help of Jesus to have a good relationship with food and lost the excess fats and gain my confidence back. Through this I hope I humble myself down and glorify Jesus.

In the last two years I’ve lost several family members, my job is out of control and I have a special needs son. I exercise every night for 15 minutes. I don’t over eat or stress eat because 1. I am exhausted 2. I’ve developed a lot of food allergies over the years.
I’m not making excuses, I am really at a loss. I know I need a lifestyle change! I seek God’s will and pray for jobs that I apply for.
I have talked to my doctor, and of course first thing they say is watch what you eat, exercise more. I wish it was that easy. I hate that most people jump to oh you’re stress eating And not exercising
I’m writing asking God for guidance. I feel so frustrated and stuck . In the last two years I e gained over 30 pounds.
I need someone to talk to that has insight, and doesn’t jump to “oh you’re over eating and not exercising enough.
