“Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.” Isaiah 1:18 “Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.” Psalm 51:7Apart from what Jesus has done on the cross, we are filthy and not worthy of God’s love and caring and protection. It’s only by the death of Jesus, and the crimson blood that he shed on the cross, that we can be made right with God – that we have an opportunity to live in a relationship with him. Jesus’ blood cleanses us from sin. Our sin is covered with his blood, just as a fresh, deep blanket of snow covers everything. So, if you’re in the part of the country where snow has covered most everything, as you look out onto it today, be reminded of how much God loves you and that Jesus paid a high price for your sins to be washed away… just as snow makes everything clean and pure.
