We don’t often get snow in Charlotte, N.C.. When we do, it’s typically just a dusting that disappears the next day. That’s not the case with the weather system that is coming thorough the Carolinas with the current storm. As I write this post, we’ve had about six inches and it’s still coming down. This is more than a dusting. Most everything is covered in white.
As I was eating my breakfast this morning and watching the snow gently fall, I was reminded of the lyrics of the song based on the scripture that tells us that our sin has been washed away by the blood of Jesus.
As the song – Nothing But the Blood – goes, ‘Oh! precious is the flow that makes me white as snow. What can wash away our sins?… nothing but the blood of Jesus.’
“Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.” Isaiah 1:18
“Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.” Psalm 51:7
Apart from what Jesus has done on the cross, we are filthy and not worthy of God’s love and caring and protection. It’s only by the death of Jesus, and the crimson blood that he shed on the cross, that we can be made right with God – that we have an opportunity to live in a relationship with him. Jesus’ blood cleanses us from sin.
Our sin is covered with his blood, just as a fresh, deep blanket of snow covers everything.
So, if you’re in the part of the country where snow has covered most everything, as you look out onto it today, be reminded of how much God loves you and that Jesus paid a high price for your sins to be washed away… just as snow makes everything clean and pure.
Have a blessed day!

Very ‘cool’ post, Dale! Been working on a post using the very same verses and image. Let’s hope great minds think alike, huh? As you are interested, I’m running a series of blogs on ‘Sin’ and the ‘Son’ at http://www.globalmensgroup.com that will wrap up with a “white as snow” theme (may borrow your ‘white as snow’ photo if you don’t mind?). Thanks for sharing your thoughts!!

“Cool!” You certainly may use the picture Bryan. I intend to write up a post on Sin and Sickness. I may have to use the title, Sin, Sickness and the Son! Praise God for your service to the Kingdom and making His truths known! Blessings to you.
