What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Romans 6:1-2Let’s quickly look at a few factors that impact on this issue. First, you must acknowledge that when you knowingly engage in unhealthy behavior that you’re sinning. Just as well, you must recognize that when you do not engage in healthy behaviors that you’re sinning. “Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.” James 4:17 Second, you must really believe that sin has lost its power over you. That’s a key reason Christ died for you. That is the power of the Cross. Jesus desires that you not have unhealthy behaviors, and his death has broken the power of sin in your life, but you must believe it deep in your heart. You must also believe and trust that the Holy Spirit will empower you to do what you can’t do in your own strength. And third, you must really desire that sin would not abound in your life. You must desire a healthy lifestyle to care for God’s temple, as his Spirit is in you. So, are you engaged in any unhealthy or addictive behaviors? Are there important behaviors, that are good for your health, that are not a part of your lifestyle? Consider more completely embracing these biblical truths mentioned and more deeply receiving God’s grace and the power of the Holy Spirit in your life to change some of your unhealthy behaviors or begin to engage in healthy ones.
