The illicit use of prescription painkiller drugs is dramatically rising. That’s what a recent study shows.
Between 2002 and 2010, there was a 74.6% overall increase in the number of individuals taking prescription painkillers chronically for non-medical purposes, according to the CDC in Atlanta.
We all are vulnerable to experiencing inner pain and anguish. When this occurs, we all look for a way to relieve the pain that we feel. The research shows us that many of us turn to prescription drugs.
Is this how you are coping with your life circumstances and the associated pain?
Scripture — God’s love letter to us — tells us that we have a God who is able to help us in times of need.
Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Psalm 34:18 The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
I love those verses. It is so easy to reply on other things to help with the boredom, loneliness, depression, and hopelessness we can sometimes feel in life. Myself, I always tried to use alcohol, which is just a licit drug of a different type. But truly our Lord is the only way to find true hope and joy in this life. All the others are just a lie from Satan to mask our real problem and keep us from trusting in Him.
