The warm temperature and additional sunlight in early Spring brings life to our earth. Tulips, hyacinths, clematis and daffodils begin to appear. Robins show up. Songbirds begin to gather material to build their nests. These are all signs that Winter is transitioning to Spring. And the vibrancy of Spring is synonymous with life.
I was sitting outside earlier this morning for my quiet time with God as I like to do this on nice days, especially in Spring so that I can experience nature and fresh air. The last scripture I read prompted me to write this short post.
But these (miraculous signs) are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. John 20:31
Yes, Spring is all about new life. It’s about growth and green things. But, as the Bible reminds us, true life is about believing that Jesus is the Son of God.
In John 10:10 Jesus told his disciples that he came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly. Each of us are able to experience the life that God desires us to have when we believe that Jesus is the Son of God. This is possible because our God is a god of grace. No matter how sin-ridden our past has been, when we accept Jesus into our hearts, he gives us his Spirit. And his Spirit gives us true life.
Enjoy the Springtime. Even more than that, enjoy the life that Jesus brings.

Just what i was looking for. I am a lay minister of sorts and will be preaching in my local church on March 2 and was looking for a link between the coming of spring and power of knowing Jesus. With Lent on the horizon I look at Lent as the winter and Easter spring and the beginning of new life.
