We recently moved into a new home which is about 10 miles South of the place we had in Charlotte. At our old place, we had created a flower garden that attracted hummingbirds. They became daily visitors from April through September each year. Because we enjoy flowers and nature, we brought several of our perennial flowers with us to the new home and had wondered whether there would be any hummingbirds in the area.
In a few short days, we were tickled with delight as they began to visit the trumpet-shaped flowers that are in the yard.
A hummingbird must fly around constantly to find sources of nectar which serves as fuel for their amazing bodies. To survive, they often drink 10 times their body weight in fuel daily. Some experts indicate that they must visit more than 1,500 flowers a day to consume the needed 6,000+ calories that are required to replenish their fuel.
Fortunately, our best Source of spiritual food that we require to nourish our spirits can be found in the one true God. And we can visit with him at any time and in any place. We don’t have to scurry around in a frenzy, like hummingbirds do, to find our Source to feed our spirit. All we have to do is direct our heart upward to the Heavens and call upon him.
And one of the best ways that we can do this is to… Be still and know that He is God. Psalm 46:10
“I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods.” Psalm 63:5
