Spiritual Fitness Assessment and Activate America
Based upon current research, a 40- item questionnaire that assesses 18 spiritual beliefs, attitudes and practices (Spiritual Exercises) that may have an impact on one’s emotional and physical health. Use it applying “Listen First” techniques as a “door opener” to talk about how faith might impact on a person’s health. Inquire about a corresponding booklet that addresses these spiritual exercises. This assessment can also be used as a staff training tool in a workshop.
An initial goal of the original Gulick Project, the precursor to Activate America, was to keep a focus on an integrated spirit mind body approach to wellness and also to address stress management for members. The workshops addressed above, as well as the Spiritual Fitness Assessment address these two components of Activate America. My experience as a Health and Wellness Director at a large YMCA branch accompanied with my knowledge of the faith and health connection and Christian principles enables me to provide effective instruction to your staff on these topics. My understanding of Listen First principles and how they apply to talking with members about matters of spirituality and health is also a plus.
