I spent this past weekend together with 11 other men in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina leading a three-day retreat for Quail Hollow Presbyterian Church. It was my first visit to the town of Montreat and the Montreat Conference Center.
It was a huge blessing for me to prepare for and lead the retreat and to experience the rich fellowship with the men. Feedback I received from the men and their pastor was that it was enriching for them as well.
The theme for the retreat was “Jesus as Your Personal Trainer.” You can get an idea of what we addressed by viewing this abbreviated power point. We talked about how Jesus might train us to be physically, spiritually and mentally fit. What seemed to be most helpful to many of the men was learning about how to think with the mind of Christ. This included some discussion about the lies of Satan and the impact that can have on our identity.
I look forward to getting back together with these same men at a men’s breakfast at their church next month as I challenged them to put into action what they learned in the form of a “total fitness exercise prescription.”
