is stronger than human strength.”  1 Corinthians 1:25

Giving Thanks to God and Jumping for Joy – Psalm 107:1

Posted by Dale Fletcher under Weekly Faith and Health Scripture Devotional

jump for joyWhen was the last time you jumped for joy?

Today is one of those days for me. It’s a beautiful 70+ degree day here in Charlotte, the sun is shining, birds are chirping and I’m outside doing ministry and enjoying this glorious day in God’s nature.

One of the key biblical principles or Spiritual Exercises that I write and speak about is ‘Being Thankful to God’. His Word tells us that we’re to express our thanks for what He’s done in our life and for who He is.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.” Psalm 107:1

The more we’ve experienced the love of God and understand who He is, the more we ought to naturally praise and thank him.

On a day like today, as Spring seems so ever close after a long, cold winter it’s easy to be thankful.  But, even when life is not going so well, God desires that we be thankful to him – just because.  He is God, after all, and so He deserves our thanks all the time.

I hope that you have taken time today to say “Thank you God, for who you are and what you do in my life.” If you haven’t perhaps you’ll lift up a thanks to him now.

Have a great weekend!

Using Twitter for Ministry

Posted by Dale Fletcher under Twitter

Using Twitter to Support Your Ministry EffortsAre you in ministry of any sort? Are you using the internet in an intentional way to make a difference for the Kingdom of God?

If so, are you using Twitter as part of your ministry efforts? If you’ve been following me on Twitter, you’ll know that I send out affirmations about God’s promises using scripture.

Pastor, Rick Warren, lead pastor at Saddleback Church in California suggests that internet technology is a gift from God for ministry and that it’s up to each of us as to if and how we’ll use it.  Such is the case for using Twitter for ministry.

Using Twitter for Ministry E-Book

Twitter for Ministry is an E-Book that Brandon Cox has just released. Brandon is a pastor at Warren’s Saddleback Church where he now serves as Online Community Facilitator for Pastors.com and leads the Correspondence Team of the Office of Pastor Rick Warren. He’s also a freelance communication and branding consultant and website designer as well as an avid blogger. Brandon helped me with aspects of the design of my website about a year ago and has been influential in my use of Twitter for ministry.

I’ve read Brandon’s book and recommend it to you if you’re still new to the Twitter scene or would like to gain his insight and learn of his suggestions on how to use Twitter for ministry more effectively.

Click here or on the image to the right to view more details or to purchase the E-Book for $10.

John Wesley and Holistic Health

Posted by Dale Fletcher under Faith and Health

The folks at Church Health Reader have just posted a wonderful second interview with Randy Maddox, Professor of Theology and Methodist Studies at Duke Divinity School, on John Wesley’s holistic view of health. Maddox tells readers about John Wesley’s book of medical advice at this Church Health Reader link.

More than 200 years later, it’s surprising how much of Wesley’s advice is still relevant today – exercising, drinking water, and clean air were crucial elements of his advice.

Enjoy!
